Golden State Warriors point guard – Stephen Curry – is widely regarded as one of the best shooters in the history of the National Basketball Association. On Monday (December 20), he proved his legacy by scoring the 2,974 3-pointer in his career and thus surpassing Ray Allen’s record.

To celebrate this achievement, Curry launched an NFT collection consisting of every 3-pointer he has netted in his NBA appearances. Each collectible is priced at $499 as the athlete will donate all the profits to a charity foundation.

Shoot… And The NFTs Are In

The NFT collection was released at 2974SC.com and comes by the name of “2974 Collection.” It features a series of non-fungible tokens that depict every 3s, which Stephen Curry has scored in his career.

“I’m truly grateful to be able to share this moment with all of the fans, the entire Bay Area community, and everyone who has supported me throughout the years,” the player said.

Andrea McDonald – an artist and a recent college graduate – is the artwork’s creator. Each collectible includes the game’s location and date along with Curry’s digital signature. 2973 of the non-fungible tokens cost $499, while the record-breaking 2974 3-pointer will be auctioned for 72 hours and sold to the highest bidder.

Curry revealed that he will donate 100% of the earnings to the “Eat.Learn.Play” – a foundation established by the sportsman and his wife that aims to improve the lives of children. However, the 33-year-old added he will gift 200 of the 2974 NFTs to people who have helped him on his journey. These include Golden State Warriors fans, school teachers, coaches, neighborhood friends, mentors, Stephen’s SC30 team, teammates, rivals, and family.

The NBA star is not a newbie in the cryptocurrency space. Three months ago, he became a global ambassador and shareholder for the digital asset exchange FTX. The latter will serve as the host platform for users to own NFTs from the “2974 Collection” and sell them afterward.

Curry Is an NFT Owner

The athlete joined the NFT craze by purchasing Bored Ape digital art at the end of August. To acquire the collectible, he spent 55 ETH worth about $180,000 (at the moment of the transaction).

Interestingly, the ape was first sold for 0.68 ETH and 1.5 ETH before Curry bought it for more than 80x its initial price.

His ape has some of the rarest characteristics in the collection. It has zombie eyes with blue fur and is wearing a tweed suit.
