Polygon-based decentralized app (dapp) Arc8 has launched to a substantial 1.3 million pre-registered players with a collection of ready-to-play NFT-based Esports games where players can compete and earn rewards.

Developed by Gamee, a mobile games developer and a subsidiary of crypto unicorn Animoca Brands, Arc8 is a play-to-earn mobile esports NFT platform that has catapulted to acclaim in its beta phase. Players use GMEE tokens to participate in Arc8’s 1v1 matches and tournaments and to purchase Arc8 non-fungible tokens that can be used in-game. The limited beta attracted 1.3 million users within three weeks and briefly became the #3 gaming dapp across all chains and the #1 dapp on the Polygon chain, according to Dappradar.

The launch of Arc8 will be closely followed by the launch of the platform’s first NFT collection, G-bots — a limited selection of 1,000 in-game characters playable in exclusive 1v1 matches and tournaments within the Arc8 App. Unlike many NFT-based games, which are primarily in their conceptual or development stages, G-bots on the Arc8 platform will be ready for players at launch.

“When our team set out to design a new NFT game, we prioritized ‘play-to-earn’ capabilities, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use, and we have been overwhelmed by the positive response,” said Bozena Rezab, CEO of GAMEE. “Today, many games players are getting their first taste of a decentralized community on Arc8, and many have never previously used a blockchain wallet. This is a clear indication that Arc8 is fulfilling a significant role in growing the blockchain gaming market.”

Earlier this month, Gamee chose to port Arc8 over to Polygon — a leading Ethereum scaling protocol — after Ethereum transaction fees became untenable. Since the migration, Arc8 has been a major driving force for the Polygon chain, contributing to a spike in wallets on the chain where the number of daily active wallets exceeded those on the Ethereum main chain.
