Topps, a leading trading card brand, made an announcement today regarding the launch of a new series of MLB cards as NFT in September and will be released on Avalanche instead of WAX. The Major League Baseball cards are going to be released in the month of September but dissimilar to the release of the previous collection this past spring, they won’t be released on WAX.

Topps to launch a new set of MLB NFT on Avalanche Instead of WAX

Topps released its first set of MLB cards as NFT back in the month of April, which was dubbed as the 2021 Series 1 Baseball cards, and did so through the WAX blockchain.

However, this time around, the latest 2021 Topps MLB Inception NFT Collection will be making a debut exclusively through a new NFT platform centered on Topps and developed on the Avalanche Blockchain.

As revealed by a spokesperson of the company, it mentioned:

“We decided to create ToppsNFTs.com as a place for fans to buy and sell Topps NFT collections from a convenient centralized hub. We chose to partner with Ava Labs to develop ToppsNFTs.com due to their truly decentralized high-performing platform, compatibility with Ethereum, and commitment to lowering their environmental impact.”

MLB Inception NFT Collection to be Released on September 9

It has been revealed that the Topps MLB Inception NFT Collection is to be released via packs on September 9 through the platform based on Avalanche.

At present, the Topps NFT website currently lists the collections from the classic Bazooka chewing gum brand and Bundesliga.

In addition to this, it should be noted that last month, Major League Baseball is going to end its 69-year deal with Topps as its exclusive producer of trading cards. Also, MLB already has notable tie-ups with Fanatics and owns equity in the firm.
