Adidas Originals, the German sportswear brand, introduces the first blockchain-based virtual wearables. Adidas called their first NFT collection "Virtual Gear". The launch of the NFT Collection will accelerate Adidas Originals' drive to improve its community-driven open metaverse strategy for members first.

The 16-piece collection is available in the wallets of owners of the capsule collection, which debuted in May and was sent out to owners of Into The Metaverse (ITM) NFT. According to the report, Adidas Originals owners who own a Capsule NFT collection must "burn" their current Capsule NFT to randomly generate one of 16 new NFTs. Those without the Capsule NFT will be able to purchase the new Virtual Gear Collection directly through various NFT marketplaces from November 16th.

As an added bonus, community members who own an NFT and an eligible partner NFT collection (BAYC, MAYC, Inhabitants) will be able to “dress” their NFTs with virtual Adidas wearables using the PFP tool, which will be released soon.
