On Saturday night, all ten thousand Bored Ape Yacht Club images sold out within one hour. The successful NFTs sale demonstrates the growing demand for NFTs and ranks Bored Apes as the fifth-most profitable crypto-collectible mission of all time.

Bored Ape Yacht Club, a collection of unique NFTs running on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, has raised $96 million in a sale of its 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs. The public sale started on Saturday and had incredible success in just one hour. Notably, one of the investors in Bored Ape NFTs was Stephen Curry, the greatest pure shooter in National Basketball Association history.

Bored Ape NFTs Sale

Bored Ape Yacht Club is a limited NFT collection that officially launched on April 30. It offered 10,000 unique iterations of the cartoon primates for sale as NFTs, each at a price of about $200 in Ethereum cryptocurrency. When you buy a Bored Ape, you’re not simply buying an avatar or a provably rare piece of art. You are gaining membership access to a club whose benefits and offerings will increase over time. According to Bored Ape Yacht Club, the token itself doubles as your membership to a swamp club for apes.

In May, the first ape was sold for just 0.68 ETH and again sold for 1.5 ETH or $4,875. Last week, one user paid 400 ETH or $1.3 million for Bored Ape #3749 on OpenSea.

Earlier this month, Bored Ape holders had been airdropped a companion canine NFT from the Bored Ape Kennel Club assortment. A bundle of a Bored Ape accompanied by its canine was bought for $1 million on August 10.

On Saturday night, all ten thousand Bored Ape Yacht Club images sold out within one hour. The successful NFTs sale demonstrates the growing demand for NFTs and ranks Bored Apes as the fifth-most profitable crypto-collectible mission of all time. According to the NFTs tracking website CryptoSlam, the apes have generated $354 million in gross sales. The best offer in terms of price right now is 25 ETH ($81,250), although there doesn’t appear to be an ape for sale under 44.9 ETH ($146,000).

On September 2, public sale home Sotheby’s will auction off a group of Bored Apes.

Stephen Curry to Invest in NFTs

Basketball legend Stephen Curry also joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Discord. He bought one of their NFTs for 55 ETH ($180,000). After Curry bought the ape NFT, several people have donated him 58 other NFTs. They included a pair of scissors, a rock, and a hand-drawn edition of his Bored Ape NFT.

Notably, Curry’s purchase comes just ahead of the snapshot of all Bored Ape holders that will take place today. After the snapshot, all bored ape holders will get a “Mutant Serum” per ape. It is not yet clear what the serum will do, however, some think it might turn a current Bored Ape into a Bored Mutant Ape.
