3Dcentralized art production studio STUDIO90ies is launching a collection of 12 highly realistic 3D figures, the SADBUNZ collection, in a tribute to sadness. The elements echo luxury collectibles, according to a press release sent exclusively to Invezz.

Later this month, they will become part of a virtual exhibition titled “IT IS ALL AROUND US”, which features prominent NFT artists showcased using Artgence 3D’s immersive technology. You can view it here.

A match made in heaven

SADBUNZ combines these two trends in a single product. As the figurines spin, an exclusive soundtrack plays in the background of the luxury, revolving NFT product. STUDIO90ies developed the collection in partnership with experts to showcase the traits, which figurine and luxury goods markets would expect from a collector’s item.

More than a collectible

According to Guy Jonathan Kazaumba and Joy Katharina Lorck-Schierning, cofounders and managing directors of STUDIO90ies, the Sadbunz figurines reflect the melancholy of day-to-day life in the digital age, when we’ve never been more connected, but divided at the same time. The figurines’ creators, Pikazo 21 and Marley XXI, said:

“Emojis have become an intrinsic part of our digital communication. Here’s an interesting fact: it’s been reported that identifying with emojis or similar cartoonized expressions in difficult times has a therapeutic effect on us. In a way, SADBUNZ are an answer to the rising mental health concerns. They are a reminder that, at times, we hit a rough patch – but no sadness will last forever.”

The Sadbunz saga starts with the first edition of the collectible NFT figurine series. There will be 12 different colorways in total. Within these, the 75 first editions to collect will inspire a digital treasure hunt as they will be spread across five NFT marketplaces.
