Qatar Kicks off Mena's First Metaverse EA Sports Tournament

Ushering in the new era of eSports, Ooredoo, one of Qatar’s leading Information and communication technology providers, is gearing up to broadcast the EA Sports FIFA22 Champions Cup on 24, 25 and 28 May 2022, 5 pm onwards, entirely in the metaverse.

Alongside, it will also launch a collection of exclusive NFTs from its own eSports brand, Ooredoo Nation-Gamers’ Land.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at Ooredoo Tower paneled by senior representatives of Ooredoo Network.

Speaking on this occasion, Nasser Bin Hamad Bin Nasser Al Thani, Chief commercial officer at Ooredoo said, “We see eSports as one of the key areas of focus in this digital era and an area in which we can explore the many opportunities to offer our customers an unrivaled experience.”

This tournament will witness 12 top EA Sports FIFA22 players compete for the title along with four regional players who were qualified through Ooredoo Nation-Gamers’ Land online qualifying games.

The Championship boasts of a prize pool of $50,000 (QAR 182,000), wherein the winner will receive $25,000 followed by $15,000 for the runner-up. The second and third runner-ups will be rewarded $5,000 each.

This first-of-its-kind in the MENA region event will feature digital merchandise, online ticketing, and a cutting-edge immersive viewing experience.

Ooredoo Nation-Gamers’ Land will offer customized Avatars and eSport Jerseys to every attendee. Furthermore, they will also receive free NFTs upon registration which will enable access to exclusive benefits such as meet and greet with players, giveaways, event activations, and more.
