Kawaii Islands Plots to Build the World's First Blockchain-Based Anime Metaverse

The Kawaii Islands anime metaverse is plotting a major transformation in 2022 following a highly successful first year. It's aiming to develop nothing less than an entire "Kawaiiverse," with the creation of new social features and a user-friendly blockchain infrastructure that will allow anyone on the platform to build games and NFTs and earn rewards for doing so.

Kawaii Islands has rapidly emerged as one of the hottest spaces in the metaverse in the few short months since it launched in September 2021. It's an NFT-based, play-to-earn game in which players get to design, build, craft, nurture creatures and farm in an action-packed fantasy world, where they can interact with more than 14,000 other monthly active users.

However, the true ambition of Kawaii Islands extends far beyond the idea of play-to-earn - it also aims to give users the opportunity to "create-to-earn," and to do that it envisions fostering a thriving community where lifelong friendships between its players are born.

To enable its Kawaiiverse ecosystem, Kawaii Islands will lay the foundation of its new blockchain infrastructure in the first quarter of this year with the launch of its long-awaited "Kawaiiverse Map," followed by its very first island sales.

The promised infrastructure will make it possible for anyone in the Kawaiiverse to create and join new games and NFTs. While it hasn't said what these games will entail - mostly, because that's down to the creators themselves - the vision is for Kawaii Islands to become a "nurturing hub for creators and anime studios" in the blockchain space, empowering them to create new, quality products and original creations.

To get there, it's working to deliver a full set of tools for blockchain-based application and content development, so anyone can start an on-chain business within the Kawaiiverse.

Kawaii Islands said:

"The developed infrastructure will enable artists and developers to incorporate their products to Kawaiiverse, serve the community and earn."

While Kawaii Islands will release its own new gaming updates, including a new fishing game and an adventure game that will allow players to fight battles with their creatures, it'll be in the second half of the year that we get to see the first of its creators' creations. Kawaii's infrastructure-as-a-service is set to launch during the second quarter, when it will be able to support new games and mini-games within the Kawaiiverse. The infrastructure promises to be very comprehensive, with support for on-chain processes such as NFT creation, marketplaces and transaction history on Binance Smart Chain and Oraichain, plus common DeFi functions such as staking and bridging. It will also support communication protocols for social activity and provide an interface for analytics.

With its blockchain infrastructure up and running, Kawaii Islands will deliver on its "create-to-earn" promise with the launch of protocols for creators by the third quarter of the year. With these protocols, anime artists and other users will be able to create new anime fashions, characters and content and share those creations with the entire Kawaiiverse, earning appreciation, privileges and crypto for doing so.

The final step, scheduled for some time in the fourth quarter, will be the introduction of new AI-based personalization features, after which the Kawaiiverse will open itself up to enterprises that want to participate in its emerging anime metaverse.

Though Kawaii Islands' roadmap for 2022 is highly ambitious, it points to the exceptionally strong community it has fostered as a reason to believe it can achieve its goals. Despite its young age, the community has already resulted in strong friendships, giving birth to a new venture capital firm, for example.

"One of Kawaii Islands' core values is building an engaging community for players and anime fans around the world," it said. "Great community and life long friendships can form and grow together within the Kawaii Islands ecosystem."
