Today, Changpeng Zhao aka CZ, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the biggest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance made an announcement about adding XRP as the base pair to his exchange. Currently, there are two pairs to be added to the exchange, XRP and Tron [XRP/TRX] and XRP and Zcoin [XRP/XCZ]. In his original tweet, CZ confirmed this change and stated:

“We will be adding a couple trading pairs with XRP as the quote currency shortly.
And rename ETH markets to ALTS market. Running out of space on the UI.
Merry Xmas!”

Another change that the CEO is making to the user interface of the Binance website is bringing Ethereum markets under the ALTS market. According to CZ, this is because the Binance UI does not have enough space to fit in market labels for separate coins.

This has had a huge impact on XRP. The coin is currently up by a massive percentage of 21%. At the time of writing, XRP is trading at a heavily appreciated price of $0.44 with a market cap that has reached $18.2 billion.

During the day, Ethereum [ETH], XRP’s market competitor came close and overlapped with the market cap of XRP, threatening a take over of rank. However, this did not turn into action as XRP soon took off to a new level of price hike.

In another tweet, CZ also mentioned that the prioritization of adding more pairs will be given to those projects that have contributed to the charity that Binance created as a move forward in the domain of social welfare. He wrote:

“We will prioritize adding more pairs for the projects that have donated to our charity at this (even thought we never mentioned this during our fund raising efforts). Happy holidays!”

Steven Diep, a prominent and well-informed member of the Ripple and XRP community stated:

“This news is bigger than XRP being listed on Coinbase”
