There’s no question that the meteoric rise in the popularity of Coinbase was in part fueled by its mobile accessibility. This dominance has continued for years as few exchanges have focused on mobile platforms.
Now, the San Francisco-based exchange has gained a major mobile competitor with the launch of the Gemini App, a licensed cryptocurrency exchange and custodian that allows users to buy, sell and store cryptocurrency in a compliant manner.

According to the announcement, the mobile app is a true extension of Gemini’s desktop trading platform, with functionality including price alerts, recurring buy orders, and institutional-grade security.
Perhaps the most notable addition with the launch of the Gemini Mobile App is The Cryptoverse, a “basket,” or index, of the market-cap-weighted cryptocurrencies available on Gemini available for purchase with a single order.
The Cryptoverse will compete for retail investors with Coinbase, Abra, Circle and Voyager all of which have similar index products that allow for single-click diversification.
Crypto investors can now download the Gemini Mobile App from the Apple App Store here or from the Google Play Store here.
