Coinbase informed their customers that they can begin to deposit ICP tokens as soon as the Mercury Genesis Launch Event takes place.

As DFINITY Foundation prepares for the Mercury Genesis Launch Event scheduled to take place on May 7, 2021, cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform FTX has launched the Internet Computer Protocol futures ICP-PERP. Additionally, Coinbase Pro is set to list ICP tokens after the Genesis event tomorrow.

According to metrics provided by FTX, ICP-PERP was trading around $166 at the time of reporting , although the volatility was significantly high thus an unstable price. FTX noted that there will be no funding payments until there are sustainable markets to form an index. “Until the ICO mainnet launches and there are suitable markets available to form an index, the ICP-PERP index will be equal to the ICP-PERP market price, and there will be no funding payments,” FTX noted on its trading platform.

Notably, Coinbase advised its customers that they can begin to deposit ICP tokens as soon as the Mercury Genesis Launch Event takes place. “Once Internet Computer (ICP) governance tokens become generally available, transfer ICP into your Coinbase Pro account ahead of trading. We will publish tweets from our Coinbase Pro Twitter account as a date becomes available,” Coinbase notified its customers through Twitter.

“Genesis marks the public launch of the Internet Computer, when the network spins out as part of the public internet, enabling developers, organizations, and entrepreneurs to build and deploy secure and interoperable software programs on the open network,” the company noted in a Medium blog.
