The payments Giant MoneyGram has officially launched a new crypto service that enables users to sell, purchase and hold digital assets on the mobile app.

The MoneyGram chairman and CEO Alex Holmes remarked that the company viewed crypto and digital assets as another input and output option. Thus, they were excited to give users access to a trusted and user-friendly platform to hold and trade cryptocurrencies securely.

MoneyGram launches the new service with the backend support of the crypto exchange CoinMe. These two have collaborated since 2021, when MoneyGram formed a partnership with CoinMe to allow users to use fiat currency to purchase Bitcoin and convert it to cash at its US-based locations.

In June, MoneyGram also introduced a new service in key remittance markets, including the US, Philippines, Kenya and Canada, to bridge fiat money and digital currencies via the stablecoin USD Coin (USDC) and payments blockchain Stellar (XLM).
