Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles has described his ordeal in Japanese prison, following the recent arrest of auto executive Carlos Ghosn. Ghosn was recently arrested by Tokyo prosecutors on suspicion of financial crimes.
Ghosn has currently been detained for over two months following his arrest in Tokyo. According to his son, the 64-year old has lost 20 pounds while incarcerated, he has also failed in repeated attempts to get bail.
Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles had a lot to say about the situation, coming from the exact same situation recently. Karpeles was arrested and held for the Mt. Gox hack, which still remains one of the biggest bitcoin hacks in history.

Karpeles spent over 11 months in Japanese prison while going through court proceedings. Karpeles commented on the arrest of Ghosn, saying "I wouldn't want this on anyone," "Not my worst enemy, not even humanity's worst enemy." he told CNN in an interview.
Karpeles explained his experience to CNN as a "nightmare", explaining how he spent 50 days in a row being interrogated, almost until breaking point. Karpeles also explained how he lost 77 pounds of weight while in custody. He spent his time in a 65-square foot cell where he was forced to sit upright for 10 hours per day. Failure to comply would lead to Karpeles being sent to a padded "punishment room" where he would be tied up and spend several hours on the floor.

Karpeles' case should have a final judgement in March. He is currently out of custody waiting the outcome of the case.
