With only a year to go until some of the biggest campaigns in the world vie for the American people's vote, hopeful candidates are throwing their hat into the ring for a chance to run the ‘free world’.
Tulsi Gabbard is one of those hopefuls, announcing her bid last Friday, and she may fund herself gaining a few votes form the cryptocurrency community.
That’s because Gabbard is one of the few members of Congress who disclosed their crypto holdings last year. While her market timing may have been inopportune Gabbard was said to have been holding between $1000-$15,000 in Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH) at the time.
However, more than simply hedging her bets on a new, potentially lucrative investment, Gabbard has been particularly vocal about the state of central banks, speaking out against these entrenched financial institutions and calling for reform.

It seems likely that the 2020 presidential run will feature cryptocurrencies as a genuine talking point. If not brought up naturally by moderators during debates then it will surely be a topic broached by either Gabbard or (infinitely more likely) John McAfee, who will also be running.
McAfee announced his candidateship last year, relaying that his primary goal is to propagate cryptocurrency, as relayed by his campaign manager:
"We intend to showcase (the advantages of crypto), while at the same time laying bare the absurdity of the present solutions to political and social problems, most of which are created by government to begin with."
As it stands it looks as though McAfee has some competition in Gabbard, or maybe an ally? One thing is for certain, the 2020 presidential run is going to be one to watch.
