The agency failed to provide any useful information on the nature of the enforcement act.

The United States Department of Justice recently revealed a significant announcement on a crucial international enforcement action related to cryptocurrencies today at 12 PM (ET) or 17:00 (UTC). The agency has not disclosed any important point to the nature of the announcement.

The disclosure was just made on the official DoJ website, and recently highlighted by Reuters. Eleanor Terrett, Journalist at Fox Business, also called attention to the development. According to her, the department will hold a press conference led by Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco.

During the press conference, the U.S. Department of The Treasury will also announce a separate action. The press conference will be live-streamed on the DoJ official website. Though coverage by media outlets will be provided by the network pool, photographers are expected to RSVP.

The officials expected to be present include:

  • Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco
  • Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite, Jr., Criminal Division
  • U.S. Attorney Breon Peace, Eastern District of New York
  • Associate Deputy Director Brian Turner, FBI
  • Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo, Department of Treasury

The DoJ has been more involved in the crypto space following the FTX implosion, as regulatory actions picked up. Last December, the agency charged FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried with money laundering, fraud, and campaign finance crimes. Most recently, the agency seized 55.27M Robinhood shares linked to FTX.
