Blast Royale, a blockchain-based Play-2-Earn (P2E) game has announced the successful completion of its $5 million seed funding round.

Per the announcement, the round was led by Animoca Brands, the startup behind The Sandbox game, with participation from Dragonfly Capital, Play Ventures Future Fund, DeFiance Capital, Double Peak, Polygon, C² Ventures, Morningstar Ventures, DWeb3, Merit Circle, Shima Capitol, Ancient 8, AvocadoDAO as well as being backed by notable angel investors such as Santiago R Santos and Nick Chong.

Blast Royale came off as the latest emerging blockchain protocol to tap into the growth of the P2E economy that has notably drawn the interest of investors across the industry. With gaming tagged as one of the easiest avenues to onboard the next set of a billion users into the broader decentralized world, investors have been on a rampage, backing as many protocols as they feel will take a centerstage in the Web3.0 world.

“We are thrilled to have such strong backing from some of the most influential investors in blockchain gaming. All of our partners share our vision for making Blast Royale one of the best gaming titles, providing compelling, fun gameplay, and creating a Battle Royale game suitable for the Web3 generation,” said Neil McFarland, CEO of First Light Games, the startup behind the Blast Royale title.

According to the First Light Games team, the funds raised will be used to continue to develop the game, attract top talent, and grow the game community.

Resounding the Uniqueness of Blast Royale

The funding for the Blast Royale game came in the form of a private token sale and the participation of different investors was influenced for different reasons. For Animoca Brands, the quality of the gameplay in Blast Royale is second to none, and coupled with the experiences that the team behind the game brings to the table, the chances of success seem very high.

“We are very impressed with the high quality of gameplay in Blast Royale. Given the progress so far and the First Light Games team’s strong pedigree of several iconic hit games, we believe that Blast Royale will be an appealing and compelling metaverse entry for a new generation of gamers,” said Yat Siu, the executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands.

Animoca Brands has been building massive capacity in the blockchain space of late with the company raising $358.8 million in a new funding round back in January. The startup also acquired Eden Games earlier this month as it continued the push into the diverse gaming world. The choice of partners Blast Royale onboarded is evident of its readiness to compete and become the go-to gaming title in the emerging Web3.0 world.
