Ethereum developer Raul Jordan (Prylabs) has updated the community about successful Ethereum 2.0 test coverage since all ETH 2.0 block operations including casper slashings, attestation processing, deposit handling, and RANDAO is now done with 100% test coverage according to the latest spec.

Bright Future for ETH in 2019?

Raul also expressed his positive sentiments for Ethereum’s future in 2019:

The main reason why the community is excited about Ethereum 2.0 developments is the fact that within mentioned development Ethereum will be able to handle around 14 000 transactions per second, which is an x1000 gain compared to the current approximately 14 transactions per second. This will solve the current scalability issue.

Ethereum 2.0 Specifications

Core specifications for eth2.0 client validation are divided into two phases: The Beacon Chain (Phase 0), and Shard Data Chains (Phase 1). Anyone who seeks for more deep technicals to dive into, follow provided links above.

The official Ethereum 2.0 GitHub specifications suggest, that the broad Ethereum 2.0 upgrade’s goals are:

  • to minimize complexity, even at the cost of some losses in efficiency;
  • to remain live through major network partitions and when very large portions of nodes go offline;
  • to select all components such that they are either quantum secure or can be easily swapped out for quantum secure counterparts when available;
  • to utilize crypto and design techniques that allow for a large participation of validators in total and per unit time;
  • to allow for a typical consumer laptop with O(C) resources to process/validate O(1) shards (including any system level validation such as the beacon chain).

What’s Next?

A lot of scenarios ahead, but one thing is clear – when Ethereum’s team faces the problems, they just work on them to improve rather than waste time creating something from scratch. If Ethereum 2.0 will succeed, further versions like Ethereum 3.0, 4.0 are highly possible making the asset one of the most evolving and trusted as it will be able to adapt in every market or technical conditions.
