Can DeFi Save our Oceans?

PureOcean, a project intent on saving our oceans while earning users money, is set to begin its presale on March 29.

Exclusive confirmation came via the project team and was made public through PureOcean’s Twitter. The project remains in its infancy and, at first, glance, is attempting to have a positive impact on our world; if successful, it could have a domino effect on like-minded visions to improve the planet.

"The nodes will be sold for 300$ at the presale. A percentage will be given to organizations. We are reaching 500 holders at the end of the presale,” Mike, one of the creators behind the project, exclusively revealed to Web3Wire.

The presale will offer a clear indication of investors' appetite for a project with such a lofty aim; it may also provide the initial impetus PureOcean needs to drive forward.

What is PureOcean’s Vision?

On their official docs, the team explains their ambition is tied to their upbringing, which was spent enjoying the outdoors.

“Already as kids, we have always been nature lovers. Whether it was hiking, trekking, or even cruising - we loved to spend time exploring the outdoors,” the project docs detail, adding: “Growing up, we were forced to witness the awful things that humans have done to our nature.”

The team considered donations, but their modest economic backdrop only allowed them to get so far in that regard; that is when the idea behind a DeFi protocol set in, offering people around the world to make a difference. How successful this endeavor will prove remains to be seen.

How can PureOcean Make an Impact?

Through their dApp, users can begin collecting PURE tokens, which the team explains will help remove plastics from the ocean.

“For every collector created, 3% will be allocated to our mission. We are in contact with massive marine organizations that will help us. We will donate the money in total transparency with you,” the team explained via their docs.

Indeed this level of transparency is always crucial in charitable organizations but especially so in the wild west terrain of DeFi. There is still a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the project, though the level of transparency they explain they will adhere to might go a long way in establishing trust.

“Tx hash will be shown, and we will ask for confirmation of the associations to show that donations are real.”
