Given the huge interest in the Spring 2021 DeFi course at UC Berkeley, the school will be adding the course Decentralized Finance (MOOC) for Fall 2021.

As DeFi has seen unprecedented growth, the purpose of this class is to bring together students and interdisciplinary experts in Computer Science and Finance to discuss the emerging area of Decentralized Finance (or DeFi).

For a quick overview, this course will cover a broad spectrum of topics, a few including:

  • The basics of decentralized systems, permissionless blockchains, consensus, smart contracts and contrast DeFi to traditional finance.

  • Decentralized reputation, identities and proof of properties.

  • Outline the many past security attacks, introspect a few of them in closer detail and provide recommendations on how to strengthen DeFi security.

Leading the course will be Dan Boneh, Professor at Stanford College, Arthur Gervais, Professor at Imperial College London, Andrew Miller, Professor at UIUC, and UC Berkeley Professors, Christine Parlours and Dawn Song.
