19-Year-Old Australian Breakfast Show Credits VeChain In Fight Against Food Fraud

As the need for food grows endlessly, the fight against counterfeiting in the food industry keeps on getting support from various people and institutions across the globe, making some rely on blockchain immutable technology as a major and reliable source in ensuring data transparency.

In a recent TV program by popular Australian breakfast show which was founded in 1991, the effort of VeChain technology in fighting against food fraud was credited mentioning its ally, Fresh Supply Co., which uses blockchain technology to enhance its supply chain.

Referencing VeChain as Fresh Supply Co’s source of suply chain innovation, the TV program said the global food and agriculture trade industry is worth over $2 trillion.

A reporter of the TV program, David Woiwod, mentioned that the primary producers of food in Australia seem to have had enough, and they are fighting back against food fraud, as the obnoxious act continues to find its way into the see foods, wines among other areas.

Fresh Supply Co is a member of the Asia Pacific (APAC) Provenance Council, and VeChain tech is the primary blockchain protocol for APAC food supply chain finance in Australia-China trades.

The CEO at Fresh Supply Co, David Inderias, who also featured in the show said there are rules that determine what can be done or not when producing growing food.

The market is a big one for the fraudsters, and their actions pose great damage to the Australian economy, however, certain tags have been placed on each food to fight against deceit.

David, who is specialized in food labeling and identification, said fraud cost the Australian economy tens of billion-dollar.

The CCO at Source Certain International, a supply chain integrity and provenance science company, said they make use of several scientific methods to fight food fraud.

In China, more than 15 million inspections were carried out on food fraud last year, and about 2 million foods defaulted standard, amounting to $2 billion counter food worth.

VeChain Blockchain in the Food Industry  

Earlier, an aggregator and supplier of Norwegian superior product, Norway In a Box, partnered VeChain and DNV GL to use blockchain technology to ensure the quality of seafood, food supplements, and water while moving them into the Chinese market.

Also, a Chinese food company Yuhongtai Foods Co. Ltd, adopted VeChain technology to enhance transparency in its products while offering its foods for the over 12 million people in Shenzhen city of China.

In May 2019, the second-largest food producer in China, Bright Foods (Group) Co., with the involvement of Shanghai Xiandao Food, partnered VeChain Foundation to enhance its supply chain management and data management systems with VeChainThor blockchain technology.

70-year-old Italian food brand ICAB La Fiammante also deployed VeChain’s My Story™, and the three largest producers of wine in Italy are also using My Story™ to batter counterfeiting.
