Cryptocurrency-friendly travel service Travala.com has announced the addition of Hedera’s native HBAR token as a payment option to seamlessly book travel.

Travala.com is a cryptocurrency-friendly travel booking service with 2,200,000+ properties, 400,000+ activities in 230 countries and 600 airlines globally. The platform accepts over 50 leading cryptocurrencies along with traditional payment methods. AVA, the native cryptocurrency of the platform, bolsters Travala.com’s value proposition. The AVA token can be used for payments, receiving loyalty rewards, and obtaining discounts and bonuses, among several other use cases.

HBAR provides users with a secure, streamlined and energy-efficient payment mechanism (carbon-negative), eliminating network congestion and high gas fees typically seen with more mainstream tokens (Bitcoin, Ethereum) while promoting instantaneous payment finality.

According to Travala, the use of HBAR as a payment method will allow travelers to use the asset to reserve flights, hotels and experiences on the platform while ensuring faster best-price bookings with the lowest amount of latency.

“That Hedera is an enterprise-grade network is a great fit for a platform like Travala that requires significant throughput and scale,” said Elaine Song, The HBAR Foundation. “In a competitive market, Travala knows that reliably fast transactions lead to a great user experience. Hedera is a perfect fit to solve this challenge.”

“As we continue to expand our network of cryptocurrency accessibility, we’re particularly excited to onboard HBAR, as is Hedera one of the fastest and most energy-efficient networks,” said Shane Sibley, Travala.com. “HBAR is accelerating the payment process with their transaction speeds for bookings, thus creating a better user experience and journey for travelers.”
