Anonymous threatens Elon Musk: Fake or reality? - The Cryptonomist

In a video published on YouTube, the hacker group Anonymous has “threatened” the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk.

In the 3-minute 47 second sequence, a person with an altered voice and the usual Guy Fawkes mask made famous in the film V for Vendetta, attacks the CEO of Tesla and concludes by saying:

“You may think you are the smartest person in the room, but now you have met your match. We are Anonymous, We are Legion. Expect us”.

The video accuses Elon Musk of being a narcissistic billionaire. He even goes so far as to claim that he has done nothing at Tesla other than take it over from the actual founders, who the video describes as.

“much more intelligent than you are”.

Tesla, Anonymous says, made more money by holding bitcoin for a few months than by selling cars. In addition, the group accuses Elon Musk of buying bitcoin with money from government subsidies.

They also accuse him of not understanding the connection between Bitcoin and energy consumption, but somehow he had to disassociate himself from Bitcoin because he wanted to keep the government’s money:

“It is now widely believed that you have been forced to denounce your company’s involvement with Bitcoin in order to keep that green government money flowing into Tesla’s coffers”.

The energy consumption argument, he argues in the video, is much more complex. But he wanted to double down, on the one hand by making the Bitcoin Mining Council and on the other by not losing government funding.

His tweets on the subject shocked the market, causing hype and then losses.

“It seems the game you have played with the crypto markets have destroyed lives. Millions of retail investors were really counting on their crypto gains to improve their lives. Of course, they took the risk upon themselves when they invested, and everyone knows to be prepared for volatility in crypto, but your tweets this week show a clear disregard for the average working person. As hardworking people have their dreams liquidated over your public temper tantrums, you continue to mock them with memes from one of your million dollar mansions”.

Is Anonymous really threatening Elon Musk?

As reported by Forbes, the “official” twitter account of Anonymous denied being the author of the video. Other accounts linked to Anonymous have also denied being the authors of the video.

The curious thing is that the YouTube channel on which the video is published is “verified”, as shown by the tick next to the name.

However, being a decentralized structure, it will be difficult to trace the truth. All that remains is to wait and see what measures, if any, Anonymous will take against Elon Musk.
