Today Cointelegraph is reporting that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has once again delayed its decision concerning the proposed Bitwise Bitcoin ETF. The decision was supposed to be settled by May 16th but a new filing from the regulatory body has granted 3 more weeks for public comments and an additional 2 weeks for responses.

The Bitwise ETF was originally filed back in February, with a decision to be made within 45 days. Then in March, the SEC delayed the decision claiming it needed more time to assess the proposed rule change.

Now, the SEC once again wants to delay the decision, this time opening the discussion up for commentary from anybody with an interest in the outcome. Taken from the filing:

"Interested persons are invited to submit written data, views, and arguments regarding whether the proposal should be approvedor disapproved by [insert date 21 days from publication in the FederalRegister]. Any person who wishes to file a rebuttal to any other person’s submission must file that rebuttal by [insert date 35 days from publication in the FederalRegister]. The Commission asks that commenters address the sufficiency of the Exchange’s statements in support of the proposal, which are set forth in Amendment No. 1,52 in addition to any other comments they may wish to submit about the proposed rule change."

The filing then lists a series of specific questions concerning people's views on this proposal that it would like responses to.

While it seems like this is the SEC dragging its feet, it is also fair to say that the government branch is doing its due dilligence to make sure it is making a well informed decision.
