In a new tweet, rapper and songwriter Meek Mill encouraged his 10 million+ followers to get on board with cryptocurrencies.

Quoth Meek: “I need everybody that rock wit me to learn about stocks and crypto currency!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!!”

Meek (real name Robert Rihmeek Williams) followed it up with a similarly breathless post: “I don’t know how much money I got... I just know I’m getting it and I’m not going to stop getting it!”

But when he’s not shilling crypto, Meek is a prolific artist. Among his biggest hits are “Dreams and Nightmares,” off his 2012 album of the same name; “Levels,” released in 2013; R.I.C.O., with Drake, which kicked off a beef between the two; and “Going Bad,” also with Drake, which marked the end of the beef.

Meek’s freestyles have also been featured on a series of mixtapes from the producer Knxwledge.

In 2019, Meek ended a 12-year-long legal battle surrounding a misdemeanor gun charge; criminal justice reform advocates have suggested the rapper was treated unfairly. Meek wrote an op-ed for The New York Times about his experience in jail.

No additional context was provided for today’s tweets, though Meek has tweeted about cryptocurrencies before. Last month, he asked billionaire financier Mike Novogratz to spread some of his crypto knowledge on Clubhouse, the social audio chat app.

Meek called him a “big crypto stepper.”

Can we get you in a clubhouse to teach a class about crypto on #culturecurrency you a big crypto stepper let me know we need ya? I be tryna teach people in my hood but they need to hear it from somebody that really did it. Pleaseeee! Lol https://t.co/bvb9rRIt0s

Rap tends to like crypto: Megan Thee Stallion did a Bitcoin promotion on Twitter late last year, and Lil Pump is set to launch his own coin.

Other crypto fans in hip-hop include Lil Yachty, Nipsey Hussle, Lil B, Ghostface Killah, 50 Cent, and Nas.
