Binance Charity has announced the launch of a new charity campaign for the Covid-19 emergency

The campaign is called Crypto Against COVID, and aims to raise $5 million in cryptocurrencies, specifically BTC, BUSD, BNB and XRP, to be used primarily to purchase medical supplies for countries most affected by the virus, such as Italy, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Iran, Turkey, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Binance has allocated an initial donation of 1 million and is committed to donating up to 2 million through the #CryptoAgainstCOVID campaign that will be promoted on social media. In addition, the company will add $1 million in public donations received.

In February, the foundation had already launched the “Binance for Wuhan” project, pledging to donate RMB 10,000,000, or about $1.4 million, to buy medical supplies to support the battle against the virus in China.

From March 20th, Binance Charity Foundation has already delivered to over 300 hospitals and medical teams in the Chinese provinces and cities of Hubei, Sichuan, Guangxi and Shanghai:

  • 366,000 pairs of gloves,
  • 56,800 masks,
  • 9 sterilizers,
  • 173 barrels of disinfectant (about 5 tons),
  • 5,280 bottles of hand disinfectant,
  • 20,000 test kits,
  • 7,850 protective suits,
  • 20,000 pairs of glasses,
  • 388 oxygen concentrators,
  • 1000 germicidal lamps,

Those who wish to participate in this initiative can visit the foundation’s website and donate even small amounts.

All transactions, based on blockchain, will be published in full transparency on the foundation’s portal, while for any hospital requests or medical supplies and help it is possible to contact [email protected]

The Head of Binance Charity, Helen Hai, said:

“The most important element of human life is to show compassion and help others as we can, without the limitation or restriction of borders. Blockchain technology enables this in greater capacities than ever before and Binance Charity wishes to bring this to the masses”.

Binance Charity’s Senior Vice President, Jarred Winn, added:

“The crypto community is a growing force and we have an opportunity to strengthen this through philanthropy. We encourage the community to take part in this initiative as we unite against COVID-19, and together, we’ll drive impact”.
