A Twitter account identified as XRPTipBot, responsible for XRP tipping and belonging to a notable developer in the XRP ecosystem, Wietse Wind, has been blocked by Twitter for impersonation.

The action comes few days after Wietse Wind’s XRParrot, a Euro-to-XRP conversion platform, shut down over regulatory procedure in Netherlands.

Wietse Wind is a developer working on XRP Ledger and the banned account had its major function as its name sounds, XRPTipBot. The account is majorly for XRP tipping.

Wietse wondered how on earth his hard work could suddenly be tagged impersonation. He actually appealed the action, and the reply from Twitter followed but wasn’t favorable response. Wietse shared the result of the appeal with his followers and well-wishers.

He said, “Update regarding the XRPTipBot account being banned by Twitter. The good news: they replied, The bad news: they say the account will not be coming back. Apparently my own project, domain name and source code I wrote is… Impersonation?! Twitter: shame on you.”

This action alone has caused uproar within the XRP community as it wont be possible for XRP enthusiasts to make use of XRPTipBot.

Some of XRP community members accused the Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey of trying to shutout any project in competition with Bitcoin and square. As some opined that Twitter is also planning to launch a tipping app like XRPTipBot on Twitter, hence, its decision to block every similar projects.

According to a sympathizer named Manco on the micro-blogging platform, the move to completely ban XRPTipBot would spell the end of the transparent donation organized via the account to a number of non-governmental organizations that take care of children that are less privileged.

He said “Suspending XRPTipBot stops a legitimate and transparent donation stream to St. Jude, Children on the Edge and other charitable efforts. Indeed, shame on you Twitter.”

Some other crypto big guns didn’t conceal their displeasures but rather vented their anger on Twitter’s attitude. Accusing fingers were pointed at Twitter for sparing the real culprits of impersonation, but damning the innocent.

While XRPTipBot will be working on other social platforms, it won’t be allowed on Twitter for now. It is not clear if Wietse will open another XRPTipping account on Twitter again.
