Visa’s latest announcement came almost two months after the company had made its first NFT purchase.

Visa Inc (NASDAQ: V) has announced a collaboration with NFT artist Micah Johnson to create a program that will help creators navigate their way around the NFT space. The global financial services giant in a press release stated that it would connect creators with its network of payment partners, which would benefit the former by expanding its audience’s reach and fostering economic growth.

Visa after the announcement, wrote on its official website, describing Art as something with the power to inspire and unite, inviting us all to dream and experience the world together. The American company added that the program will also seek to help creators to understand the non-fungible token industry better and make use of the numerous public blockchain networks to develop and sell their digital works.

“Now, there is a digital renaissance taking place in the world of art and content creation a flourishing ecosystem of artists, musicians, writers, photographers, and curators building communities at the intersection of culture and commerce.  We believe that new technologies emerging in the crypto ecosystem, like non-fungible tokens (NFTs), have the potential to lower the barrier to entry for digital creators across the world. NFTs offer a medium to connect directly with fans and collectors, making it easier for creators to monetize their talent and build a business,” the company stated.

Visa also revealed that it would choose and sponsor a group of creators to form Visa’s first-class through an open application process as well as offer consultative services.

Visa’s latest announcement came almost two months after the company had made its first NFT purchase. Back in August, Visa paid 49.5 ETH for a CryptoPunk NFT, valued at $160,000 at that time. Micah Jonhson has become an NFTvisionary after retiring from professional baseball in 2018 and has been leading the new segment of the creator economy, a community with over 50 million people, who according to reports, are the fastest-growing type of small business.

Micah started his crypto and NFT journey in 2019, describing them as a “fringe concept” at that time. Micah sold his first NFT in 2020, a feat that marked a turning point in his career, as he gained access to an audience outside of the traditional art world.

Speaking after the announcement, Micah stated that “NFTs unlocked an opportunity for me to build a community of people interested in supporting my work — in a way that goes way beyond simply liking or sharing. With guidance from the early crypto community, I’ve been able to build a small business around my crypto-native character, Aku, that can grow into a global media company rooted in driving value back to that same community that evangelized my work.”
