Greenidge Generation Holdings is to buy 10,000 miners for its planned new facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The upstate New York-based mining firm announced Wednesday its purchase order for 10,000 S19j Pro bitcoin miners from Bitmain.
The new units will offer an additional 1EH of capacity to the firm’s operations and forms part of its plans to expand to 500MW by 2025 through additional locations such as the one in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Announced in July, mining at the new facility will commence later this year or early next with two-thirds of its electricity planned to come from zero-carbon sources such as nuclear power.
Today’s purchase order coincides with Greenidge’s listing on NASDAQ, according to an SEC filing Monday. Greenidge’s planned public listing via a merger with IT support solutions provider Support.com was announced in March.
