Coinbase Pro to List ICP by Dfinity

Coinbase revealed its plans to list ICP in a blog post published on the 4th of May. In the publication, Coinbase noted that ICP is not yet available on the Internet Computer network. He, however, promised to update its Coinbase Pro followers on Twitter when it becomes open to the public.

In addition, Coinbase said it would support ICP across all Coinbase Pro jurisdictions except New York State.

The exchange said that customers are always demanding more assets to trade on the platform. Also, Coinbase highlighted the most recently added tokens that are now available for customers to trade. They include 1inch (1INCH), Enjin Coin (ENJ), NKN (NKN), Tether (USDT), SushiSwap (SUSHI), Synthetix (SNX), Cardano (ADA), Polygon (MATIC), SKALE (SKL), and Origin Token (OGN). Others are Curve DAO Token (CRV), Ankr (ANKR), Aave (AAVE), Storj (STORJ), Filecoin (FIL), and Uniswap (UNI), Ampleforth Governance Token (FORTH), The Graph (GRT), Bancor (BNT). The founder and chief scientist at DFINITY Foundation, Dominic Williams, revealed details on the Internet Computer. Williams said that after BTC and ETH, the Internet Computer signifies the third major innovation in blockchain.

Internet Computer as a Scientific Achievement by DFINITY Foundation

He explained further that the Internet Computer is a scientific achievement orchestrated by the DFINITY Foundation across several research centers. The research centers that participated are in Zurich, San Francisco, Tokyo, Palo Alto, including remote teams in Germany and the UK. The chief scientist said the Internet Computer represented unprecedented R&D effort over the past years. Williams continued that the sole purpose of the DFINITY Foundation is “to relentlessly expand the capabilities of a public blockchain and its decentralized ecosystem using advanced computer science and cryptography, and make blockchain the platform of choice upon which we can reimagine all our systems and services.”

Coinspeaker had earlier reported that the DFINITY Genesis launch is now scheduled for the 7th of May. The launch will come with several opportunities for developers and consumers as it debuts with the Internet Computer project.

According to the report, Williams referred to the development of the Internet Computer as “autonomous and adaptive.”

Also, the Internet Computer has a faster network speed than what Ethereum currently offers. Coinspeaker added that the Internet Computer had created more than 500,000 blocks since the launch of the Mercury Beta Mainnet. The Mercury Beta Mainnet launch was necessary for a successful debut of the Internet Computer.
