Wall Street’s Bakkt crypto custodian platform is expanding from bitcoin to also include ethereum, the company said in a statement.

They will soon offer their customers the ability to buy, sell or send eth alongside bitcoin, bringing the second biggest cryptocurrency to a new infrastructure.

“At Bakkt, providing flexible opportunities for users to enjoy their digital assets is a top consideration, and adding Ethereum brings a popular and growing cryptocurrency to our roster,” said Bakkt CEO Gavin Michael before adding:

“Bakkt users have already enjoyed the app’s capabilities to leverage bitcoin and we are confident that our addition of Ethereum will be a complement to our growing ecosystem of partners and assets.”

Just recently Bakkt announced a partnership with Mastercard that will allow their customers to integrate bitcoin in their merchant’s system.

This addition of ethereum presumably means Mastercard merchants will be able to choose whether to use bitcoin, eth, or both.

So potentially making this a significant development for ethereum as it begins following bitcoin in its two years long integration within traditional financial infrastructure.
