Cryptocurrency exchange FTX, may have just gotten itself an advertisement spot in arguably the most watched TV event in America.

The championship game of the National Football League is going to be held in Feb. 2022, and according to Bloomberg’s report, FTX after considering the wide reach of the audience of the sport, have decided to pay for an ad in this year’s Super Bowl LVI.

According to Nielsen’s ratings, the Super Bowl is easily the most watched TV broadcast in America, representing 28 out of the 30 highest rating broadcasts in U.S. TV history.

FTX looking to improve crypto adoption

From all indications, the founder and CEO of FTX exchange, Sam Bankman-Fried is looking to make football one of his topmost marketing strategies, as the firm continues to seek for ways to improve crypto adoption.

While the content of the ad and how much FTX paid remains to be known, NBC’s going price for an ad in next year’s Super Bowl is around $6.5 million. The price of a 30-second ad at the 2021 event was $5.5 million, with the previous event engaging no less than 92 million viewers.

With brands like Coke, Pepsi, Budweiser, and Hyundai having opted out of advertising at this year’s Super Bowl back in February, it meant that newer players were coming onboard. Some of these players were those that were doing reasonably well during the pandemic, hence becoming first time advertisers at the Super Bowl LV.

Seeing brands like DoorDash, Chipotle, e-commerce Vroom, Fiverr, and Indeed join in, it was always a matter of time before a crypto exchange like FTX did the same. That’s especially try, as crypto saw a huge boost as people started working from home during the pandemic.

Recall that in June, FTX secured a long term partnership with Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen in a deal that will see them being paid in crypto.

During last week’s Miami Heat season opener game, we also reported that the exchange gave every spectator in one section of FTX Arena $500 in crypto.

Coinbase is now following in the footsteps of FTX as it also looks to delve into sport related sponsorships, starting with a long-term partnership agreement with the NBA and WNBA as the exclusive crypto platform partner.
