The public blockchain project TomoChain has signed an agreement with Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training to provide DLT services. As a result, all certifications achieved by students in High School and Higher Education will be uploaded to the TomoChain blockchain network.

TomoChain Enters The Vietnamese Market

The Singapore-based blockchain company powered by a proof-of-stake voting consensus announced the new partnership in a press release shared with CryptoPotato.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, also known as MOET, plans to employ the TomoChain blockchain for the upcoming school year (2020-2021).

After a trial period, all types of certifications and diplomas granted by training units under MOET will be gradually entered into the National Qualifications Archives system. From that point on, they will be digitalized on the TomoChain blockchain.

The statement clarified that there are about 1.5 million such diplomas issued in Vietnam per year.

This innovative process will be a significant change in the educational system in Vietnam. Currently, training institutions are responsible for self-issuing and self-managing all qualifications. This makes the verification process lengthy and prone to human errors.

“Diploma and certificate management is an issue that needs to be resolved by technology, which is significant for the whole of society and also cost-efficient for the diploma management system in particular, and education in general.” – commented Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc.

The Global Blockchain Transition Has Begun

The statement outlined that this significant milestone in TomoChain’s technology adoption has become possible after the project acquired Lition last year. Lition is a German-based company that provides public and private blockchain services, which enabled TomoChain to expand its division for DLT Solutions for Government and Enterprises.

Founder and CEO of TomoChain asserted that his company has been exploring proper ways to achieve the transition of qualifications from their current format to blockchain technology for over a year.

He added that the partnership with Vietnam’s MOET will eliminate counterfeit diplomas while also facilitating the issuance and verification processes.

“Currently, storing data evidence on a public chain is a global trend due to its economic, security, and confidential advantages. I strongly believe that this system lays a solid foundation for adopting cutting-edge digital technologies in e-government 4.0 in Vietnam, helping us walk alongside other innovative and progressive countries around the world.”
