World’s Oldest Republic Appoints VeChain, DNV GL Among Blockchain Working Group

After signing a partnership deal with VeChain on the development of a low carbon ecosystem in 2019, the world’s oldest continuous republic, San Marino, has included VeChain and DNV GL’s representative in its first working group dedicated to the activation of blockchain ecosystem within the country.

This is coming after the Republic of San Marino Innovation Institute declared the interest of the country’s government towards promoting blockchain technology.

Members of the working group, according to the update, were selected from the scientific committee of the Institute and people who have actively participated in the activities of the institute as honorary members in recent times.

As listed in the report, the working group, for now, include; Renato Grottola –a representative of DNV GL and VeChain, Vincenzo Di Nicola –the CEO of Conio, a San Francisco-based digital asset management firm, and Sara Noggler –the founder of Polyhedra, a blockchain, fintech, and forex focused PR and marketing firm.

However, the group will be coordinated by the Vice president of the Institute, Alessandro Rossi. San Marino aims at using the initiative to pave way for the Republic’s new space known as “the Cryptovalues ​​consortium.”

Renato Grottola is the director of Digital Transformation at DNV GL-Business Assurance and a VeChain Foundation Steering Committee member. He has been in contact with the government of San Marino for quite some time on behalf of the two companies.

Di Nicola is an advisory of the Italian and San Marinese government on blockchain technology.

Meanwhile, Noggler is a public affairs consultant at the San Marino Institute of Innovation and the country’s steering committee member on blockchain technology.

San Marino’s Blockchain Working Group Objective

The new working group, as said by the Institute of Innovation, will focus on developing a regulatory frame for the blockchain sector with the inclusion of crypto-related activities.

The group will also work on onboarding and synergizing with Italian institutes with a similar objective, and make the ecosystem attractive for international players.

San Marino also seeks to reposition its image internationally in the innovation sector via the working group.

The group will be meeting soonest to begin operation and make an operational project presentation to the San Marino institutions and authorities.
