Bitpanda is launching a remote blockchain R&D hub, the Blockchain Research & Development Hub. The facility is set to be a hub for bringing together technology experts to develop exciting new projects, starting with a next-generation investment platform

Bitpanda will invest EUR 10 million over two years and employ 30 developers by 2021. They will be tasked with developing ideas using the possibilities offered by blockchain.

The CTO of Bitpanda, Christian Trummer, will also be part of this team. In total, the hub expects to house around 500 people who will be focused on developing proof-of-concept systems and ready-to-implement solutions.

Bitpanda thus intends to help foster the adoption of blockchain.

As Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad, CPO of Bitpanda, explained, at the heart of this initiative is the continuous search for innovation, and to do so, the crypto exchange wants to make use of the best talent:

“Blockchain technology is at the forefront of tech innovation, and this is incredibly exciting because of its endless potential in a company like ours. Top engineers are the differentiating factor for tech companies, and with this new technology emerging as a dominant field, we’re aiming to unite and unleash these disruptive players by launching an innovative Blockchain Research & Development Hub. The idea is to bring blockchain engineers together – across boundaries, cultures and time zones – and empower them to build the investment platform that’s revolutionising the financial industry”.

Christian Trummer, CTO of Bitpanda, on the other hand, highlighted how blockchain is becoming increasingly important in people’s lives. This is driving it towards continued growth in its adoption:

“At Bitpanda, we’re focused on pushing this wave of mainstream adoption forward because we believe this is the technology of the future. I, personally, have been working in the Blockchain space since 2012; later on, in 2014, we built a dedicated team fully focused on this technology, and I am incredibly excited to launch our Blockchain Research & Development Hub. These engineers will be given all the resources they need to bring a new level of innovation to Bitpanda’s customers”.

Bitpanda’s golden year and the purpose of the blockchain hub

Bitpanda is considered an industry unicorn. It is based in Austria and experienced vertical growth in 2020. It currently has 500 employees, 2.5 million global users and offices in France, Spain, Turkey and Italy.

With the blockchain research and development hub, Bitpanda is taking a further step forward: it expects in this way to bring together the world’s best experts to design the technologies of the future, those that will be central to the world of finance.
