The world’s largest telecom multinational, AT&T, announced today that it 'will now accept online bill payments through BitPay, a respected cryptocurrency payment processor'.

In a press release, the second largest provider of mobile telephone services, AT&T, claims to be the very first mobile carrier that will accept payments in cryptocurrency, and this through BitPay, a well-known cryptocurrency payment processor.

'We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand our services', said Kevin McDorman, vice president, AT&T Communications Finance Business Operations.

'We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer.'

AT&T's 150 million+ customers can now choose to use their Bitcoin to pay their phone bills. They will be able to select BitPay as a payment option when they log on to their accounts.

However, you might want to rethink that. Do you really want to spend your BTC on a phone bill? Make sure to let us know in the poll below.

Twitter user, Alan blake, certainly seems to thinks it is a ridiculous idea.

to me, it seems ridiculous to spend any crypto asset right now with the market so young, especially on a phone bill. Dont! You are just giving AT&T your assets to own during what could be the bull run of all bull runs. #hodl
