Trinity Protocol, a state channel scaling solution for the NEO and Ethereum blockchains, has published two community governance proposals between its November development updates. Trinity says of the proposals, “This is the first step towards community governance,” and that the governance tools will be focused on community outreach and promotion at first.

November Development

Development continues on Trinity’s state channels for NEO and Ethereum. Development of its NEO state channel network focused on the synchronization of information between the routing nodes. Two new versions of Trinity’s NEO state channel product were released in November, offering greater efficiency when monitoring the parent blockchain.

On the ETH side, the addition of transaction countersignatures is designed to make the state channels more resistant to unexpected network and data outages.

Governance Proposals

Trinity has proposed two community governance mechanisms to its community for feedback and comments. Its first proposal, “Voting Center”, is meant to incentivize the Trinity community to create and share original content that promotes the project and encourages its use. In this proposal, the Trinity team would solicit and review community submissions, and tally community feedback through a system where voting rights are granted by temporarily locking TNC tokens. Trinity suggests that “More [locked] TNC means more voting rights”. Voters and winners alike would receive TNC tokens for their efforts.

Although voting would start with a focus on community promotion, Trinity envisions a “second stage” of governance to elect a “Community Council” and determine the future direction of the project.

Trinity’s second proposal, “Talent Pool”, incentivizes users to submit content in three categories:

  • Promotional and Educational content
  • Promotion Design
  • Seasonal Awards (recognition of outstanding community members)

A “value discovery” phase is proposed to follow by which community members can suggest a value for articles or other promotional materials through a voting mechanism. In addition, a feedback mechanism incentivizing content discussion and revision is planned. In this proposal, community members will need to “pledge” an amount of TNC tokens in their wallet to gain voting rights.
