The IOTA foundation in its recent press statement gave an account of its achievement in June 2020, as stated in the statement which was tagged the IOTA Newsletter #22, the foundation said it has achieved the execution of five projects and had signed two deals.

As listed in the statement, the projects include the launch of Pollen, Nectar & Honey, and Pollen & Hornet, the foundation signed further collaboration with UiO and Lidbot.

Pollen as described in the statement marks the beginning of the world’s first scalable, decentralized, and fee-less Distributed Ledger, which has been the objective of the IOTA foundation since its launch. The project is described to be the first phase in the IOTA’s three-part release strategy that will culminate into IOTA 2.0.

The Introduction of Pollen, Nectar, and Honey was to serve as an intermediate between the IOTA mainnet project and the Coordicide and IOTA 2.0, to display the seamless transition between the two major protocol upgrades and showcase how they will transform to become a scalable, coordinator-less, feeless network.

Furthermore, the foundation explained that the release of Hornet 0.4.0 was after about five months of developments and researches. IOTA foundation however expressed joy over the achievement. Hornet is described as a lightweight node written in Go and co-developed with the community and IOTA Foundation.

The node software release was done in series with the release of a first protocol update called Chrysalis (IOTA 1.5) which is believed to usher in a substantial increase in network speed, performance, and usability.

As noted by the IOTA foundation, Chrysalis has double objective. The update is aimed at making IOTA enterprise-ready, while the second is to create a more seamless transition into the implementation of IOTA coordicide (IOTA 2.0).

As regards partnership, IOTA and the department of informatics at the University of Oslo, Norway, on a existing partnership platter, coalesced forces to explore the areas of Tangle and Digital Trust. This is in conjunction with the focus of Norway to accelerate its modulation into a leading digital and sustainable nation.

Also on an existing partnership, IOTA and Lidbot recently announced the launching of its second batch of Lidbot’s smart sensors for smart and efficient waste management.
