EOS voted for block producers for the first time

As announced several weeks ago, Block.one, the company behind the development of the EOS blockchain, has started voting for Block Producers (BP) and making its presence even more felt in this community.

The EOS blockchain allows all accounts to vote for their preferred Block Producers. This is made possible thanks to the DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake) consensus protocol, which allows voting by staking EOS tokens.

A vote can be cast up to 30 times, so each account can vote for 30 different BPs.

Block.one didn’t vote with its main account, which is b1, but created accounts dedicated only to voting. One of these accounts, called sub1.b1, voted yesterday and put its 10 million EOS at the service of these BPs:

  • atticlabeosb;
  • bitfinexeos1;
  • eoscafeblock;
  • eoshuobibipool;
  • eosriobrazil;
  • eosswedenorg;
  • newdex.bp;
  • okcapitalbp1;
  • starteosiobp;
  • teamgreymass.

As can be seen, Block.one has chosen to vote for 10 different BPs, and not 30, this perhaps because it has preferred to focus only on those who have really contributed to the EOS blockchain and are always active.

With this voting, the BP ranking has already seen a clear change of direction in the top 6 positions and most of these Block Producers are exchanges, giving a clear vision of how they are fundamental to allow users to trade their tokens freely.

It is worth mentioning that these BPs are not fixed but will be rotated for the next 6 weeks based on other factors besides voting, so that even the smallest Block Producers can gain the trust of Block.one: in fact, it should not be forgotten that these votes will also affect all those accounts that do not know who to vote for or do not vote at all, as currently, only 3.85% of the total accounts vote.

Therefore, by voting, Block.one actively participates in the governance of the EOS blockchain and demonstrates that it has not abandoned the project, providing support to those who are demonstrating their commitment to the project, including the various acquisitions as was the case for the EOS New York team.
