Founder Justin Sun has swiftly issued out a rejoinder to rumors claiming American multinational media and entertainment conglomerate Disney blocked Tron blockchain foundation from getting three trademark brand names which include ‘TRON.’

Sun refuted the allegation, claiming Tron’s brand name is well-established and reputed around the world, adding that the allegations were only misinformed FUDs.

“TRON’s brand is well-established and reputed worldwide. Lots of misinformed FUD falsely claiming about TRON trademark invalidated by Disney”.

The rejoinder, where Justin Sun explained the whole saga about the matter, was issued out in a series of 6.

The Chinese-American CEO said while the filing of trademark applications in the United States requires specification of product or service class, Tron filed application for various trademarks in different classes which its products and services belong.

(2/6) When a trademark application is filed in the United States, it has to specify a “class” for the type of product or service that the trademark belongs to.

While clarifying the status of the applications, Justin Sun specifically said many of the applications have not been challenged.

(3/6) #TRON has filed trademark applications in the United States for various marks in different classes, many of which have not been challenged and are not affected by Disney.

Although the CEO, in his statement, agreed that some of the applications were defied by Disney, but they belong to supplemental classes. Sun said such applications do not impact Tron’s core trademarks because they were only “filed for defensive purposes.”

(4/6) Those challenged by Disney belong to supplemental classes and were filed for defensive purposes. They do not affect Tron’s core trademarks.

Sun furthered that even though Tron has been granted trademark registration in many other countries of the world, the blockchain firm will continue to proceed further on “its trademarks in the United States.”

(5/6) Tron will continue to actively prosecute its trademarks in the United States. Tron has also already received trademark registrations in many other countries around the world.

The millennial tech entrepreneur concluded that the present status of its applications only represent “a trademark office proceeding on registration,” and it has nothing to do with Tron’s use of its name, as Tron will continue to use its name and brand around the world.

(6/6) In short, this is just a trademark office proceeding on registration and not a determination on Tron’s use of its name. Tron will and can continue to use its well-established name and brand.

Disney Denies Tron of its Trademark Applications

Yesterday, December 20, Decrypt reported that the US Patent and Trademark Office denied Tron of 3 trademark applications after the applications were prevented by Disney.

Disney, according to the report, blocked the application on the allegation that the trademarks would destroy its brand.

Outside the blockchain industry, Tron is a very popular name in the entertainment industry. Tron (styled as TRON) is an American sci-fi action-adventure movie produced by Walt Disney Pictures.
