Neo celebrates third anniversary of MainNet with rebrand, NNT releases NGD Shanghai documentary

October 17th, 2019 marks the third anniversary of the launch of Neo’s MainNet. Activities to commemorate the event included an open letter to the community from the Neo Foundation (NF), a brand revamp, new website launch, Twitter campaign, and the release a mini-documentary by NEO News Today titled Neo Global Development Shanghai – Behind the Scenes.

Additionally, Neo co-founders, Da Hongfei and Erik Zhang, will participate in a Reddit AMA next week with further information still to be released.

The Neo Foundation’s open letter to the Neo ecosystem thanked community members and contributors for their roles in building an “open, transparent, and interconnected future.” The NF further reiterated its vision of the Smart Economy by building out the next-gen Internet, comprised of a user-centric and interconnected infrastructure. Moving forward, the letter states that Neo is increasing its efforts in fostering enterprise participation and mainstream awareness, while also aiming to restore data sovereignty through its core architecture (i.e., NeoFS, NeoID).

Update to Neo brand and website

NGD used the third anniversary of the MainNet launch as an opportunity to debut the new Neo brand. The revamp includes an update to the logo, fonts, and brand colours, which are outlined in the Neo Brand Book. Updates to the Neo logo have been made across its social media accounts.

Neo has also launched a new version of its website, neo.org. The website features the new brand styling, and aims to provide more intuitive navigation whilst better communicating Neo’s message.

Social media and Twitter campaign

Acknowledging three years of MainNet, Neo founder and CEO of NGD, Da Hongfei, tweeted a quote from a famous mathematician and pioneer of cryptography, Alan M. Turing: “We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there needs to be done.”

As part of the third anniversary, exchanges and portfolio trackers shared their well wishes on social media, including OKEx, KuCoin, Huobi, and Delta portfolio tracker.

Lastly, NGD is conducting a social media campaign distributing 50 unique three-year anniversary gift boxes to community members across the globe. To enter the raffle, interested individuals must retweet the below announcement.

NGD Shanghai documentary

NEO News Today has released a 40-minute documentary entitled Neo Global Development Shanghai – Behind the Scenes. The documentary focuses on the staff at the NGD Shanghai office, aiming to learn more about life in the Neo workplace.

The film also features the 2019 Neo Community Assembly (NCA), which was the inaugural gathering of developers, researchers, and other Neo community members from around the world in Shanghai for a week of discussion on the direction of Neo.

Topics of conversation at the event included oracles, identity standards, governance mechanisms, distributed storage, documentation, migration from Neo 2.x to Neo3, customer support and retention, building local communities, and the delegated Byzantine Fault Tolerance (dBFT) consensus protocol.
