Adam Aron, the CEO of AMC Entertainment polled his Twitter followers if the theatre chain company should accept Dogecoin (DOGE) for online ticket and concession payments.

AMC CEO Considers Adding Dogecoin as Payment Options

"I sincerely want to hear your opinion, via this Twitter Poll. By year-end 2021, AMC will take Bitcoin, Etherum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash for online payments. I hear from many on my Twitter feed we should accept Dogecoin too. Do you think AMC should explore accepting Dogecoin?"

Within hours of posting, over 50,000 users responded to the poll. As of yet, 70% of the users voted in favor of adding Dogecoin (DOGE) as payment while 8% were in favor of adding the meme-based cryptocurrency for online payments even though they were unlikely to use it personally.

Earlier this month, AMC Theatres confirmed that it would accept cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Ethereum (ETC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) as payments for concessions and online ticket sales.

Elon Musk Wants The Theatre Chain to Accept Dogecoin

Aaron's tweet initially sent the cryptocurrency spiking to 21.75 cents but has pulled back since then. At the time of writing, Doge was down 12.9% at $.2101.

Interestingly, the AMC CEO's tweet was liked by none other than Dogecoin’s biggest proponent Elon Musk who carried out a similar poll for his followers. While many of the respondents voted in favor of Musk’s Tesla accepting DOGE among payment options, the company is yet to make it official.

At the beginning of the year, Dogecoin was worth about half a penny at the start of the year but has seen a more than 3,600% rise to its current price above $0.20. However, its price is still down by 72% from an all-time high above $0.73 set in May.
