BREAKING: Walmart to Start Accepting Litecoin

almart, the largest grocer in the world, will start accepting Litecoin starting from Oct. 1, according to a Sept. 13 press release. 

CEO Doug McMillon says that the cryptocurrency industry is currently experiencing "undeniable" momentum: 

The momentum and excitement around the use of cryptocurrency are undeniable, and we are poised to make online shopping easy for our customers. As a leading eCommerce store, we are committed to bringing innovations to the online shopping experience.

Litecoin creator Charlie Lee touted the blockchain's transaction speed, its cheap fees, and its track record. 

One of the oldest cryptocurrencies has a market cap of $11.7 billion.
