Opera (OPRA), a browser built on the Blink engine and growing competitor of Google Chrome with over 300 million users, announced this week that it has partnered with TRON (TRX) to add native support for the blockchain.

We are excited that @opera, a mainstream browser with hundreds of millions of users, will now seamlessly support #TRX and other #TRON tokens. Soon, Opera users will be able to use #dApps on the #TRON blockchain. #TRC $TRX https://t.co/2k6CoYJcGg

According to the announcement, Opera will soon support TRX and other TRC-standard tokens within its browser wallet.

“TRON is a popular, quickly developing blockchain with a swiftly growing dApp ecosystem. We are happy to open our browser to it,” said Opera’s EVP and head of browsers, Krystian Kolondra. “By opening products to multiple blockchains, we are accelerating the mainstream adoption of Web 3.”

Reborn 3’s Web 3

As we previously reported, Opera’s Crypto Wallet already supports ETH and ERC-20 tokens. Notably, the Web 3 explorer feature in Opera lets users access decentralized applications (dapps) on the Ethereum blockchain, which is likely similar to what it has planned with TRON.

“We are excited that Opera, a mainstream browser with hundreds of millions of users, will now seamlessly support TRX and other TRON tokens,” added TRON CEO Justin Sun. “Soon, Opera users will be able to use dapps on the TRON blockchain.”

Opera notes that it plans to add support for “multiple” additional blockchains in the next 12 months.
