The Chief Technology Officer of Tron has quit the project. In a Medium post, Lucien Chen claims that Tron is no longer decentralized, and announced his launch of a new project.
Explaining the emotions that caused him to move on from Tron, Chen said he was "deeply sorry to see the project that has grown up in my hands has become like this. The dreams and visions that Justin told me have been ruined...TRON is no longer the original TRON".
According to Chen, "there is a problem of centralized voting" in the Tron network. "Some nodes have more than 90% of the votes with only a few voters. Therefore, the vote of ordinary retail investors has completely fallen. The total number of TRX in TRON is 100 billion, while the total number of votes for the super representatives is just less than 8 billion".
He also believes that the network is not fit for many of the most important commercial user applications, and explained that "Bad money drives out good. Thus, DAPP in TRON is basically the gambling and funding project". He claims that Tron has abandoned "the spirit and original intention of the blockchain. No diverse voices in TRON ecosystem. The whole project has developed into a monetary tool without any "decentralize the web" spirit".
Chen will now be starting a new project that is more in line with his vision for blockchain technology. The Volume Network (VOL) has a more decentralized mining system, operates with a Proof of Time and Space Consensus (PoST) mechanism, and is community-driven with minimal private interests.
