The Swiss bank called Hypothekarbank Lenzburg has explicitly expressed its desire to work with the sphere of cryptocurrency, which in this case doesn’t mean opening a brokerage or a coin exchanger, but rather to simply provide various cryptocurrency-related companies with traditional services.

Despite this seemingly-mundane goal, this is a big precedent in the world of classic banks. Reports told that banks of the United Kingdom were reluctant to work with digital currency entrepreneurs, the sentiment is widely shared in the first-world countries in general.

Steven Mnuchin, United States Treasury Secretary, has previously noted that his governmental organization would ensure that Bitcoin does not become another Swiss bank - it was, of course, a reference to a popular stereotype about these establishments containing criminal money.

On a state level, Switzerland is cautiously optimistic about digital currencies, with the Crypto Valley in the canton of Zug. This region is also interested in blockchain projects, as evidenced by the recent news on a project of an innovative digital voting system.
