A new study conducted by Privacy Affairs found that cybercriminals offer hacked crypto accounts for sale on the darknet at surprisingly low prices.

The study revealed that a verified account on Blockchain.com can be purchased for just $85, while a hacked Coinbase-verified account is available for $250. Other popular cryptocurrency exchanges such as Crypto.com, Binance, and Kraken have been targeted, with prices ranging from $300 to $1,170.

The report also found that hackers are selling credit card details with account balances of up to $5,000 for $110 on the darknet. Furthermore, online bank account credentials with a balance of $2,000 are being sold for just $60.

The report also highlighted that cybercriminals target social media platforms and email services. For instance, Facebook and Instagram login credentials are available for $25, while Gmail is worth $60.

The founder of Privacy Affairs, Miklos Zoltan, warned that if a hacker gains access to someone’s financial details or social media credentials, the prices mentioned above are basically what it’s worth to them.

He also noted that adopting a few straightforward rules and habits can make it more difficult for hackers to access sensitive data, such as avoiding public WiFi, using two-factor authentication, and anti-malware software. Additionally, users should never share sensitive data over the phone.

Privacy Affairs also uncovered that hackers are committing identity theft using forged physical and scanned documents such as driver’s licenses and passports, which are available on the darknet for as little as $150. The report suggests that maintaining privacy measures and staying informed about cybersecurity risks is crucial in the digital age.
