Google Ads have been used to promote phishing websites that have stolen over $4 million from cryptocurrency users, according to Web3 anti-scam service ScamSniffer. The malicious ads lead users to fraudulent websites where they are prompted to provide wallet login signature requests that compromise their addresses. Scammers have targeted several decentralized finance protocols, with slight variations to URLs making it difficult for users to identify malicious links. On-chain data analysis from ScamSniffer has identified over 3,000 users that have lost money to these scams over the past month.
