Sri Lanka's Central Bank has issued a warning about the risks of using and investing in cryptocurrency, stating that cryptocurrencies are not recognized as an asset class or legal tender in Sri Lanka.
The bank reminded the public that cryptocurrencies are unregulated investment instruments and cited recent complaints of heavy losses and financial scams involving crypto-related schemes. The bank also cautioned against financial scams and emphasized that it has not authorized any ICOs, cryptocurrency mining operations, or investment advisory services related to cryptocurrency.
