One of the biggest crypto-friendly internet browsers, Opera, has announced its integration with eight blockchains in a continued effort to introduce Web3 to its 380 million mobile and desktop users worldwide.

The internet browser has integrated with major blockchain systems, namely Bitcoin (BTC), Solana (SOL), Polygon (MATIC), StarkEx, Celo, Ronin, Nervos DAO, and IXO.

According to the company, the intention behind its integration with multiple blockchains is to ensure chain agnosticism and Web3 involvement in an environment-friendly manner.

Jorgen Arnesen of Opera stated, “Ultimately, Web3 is on its way to becoming a mainstream web technology and users won’t need to know they’re interacting with it. They need to get a superior user experience and a true benefit.”

Opera also mentioned in the announcement that its users now have access to the Polygon and Solana DApp ecosystems, as well as the benefits of Layer 2 Decentralized Finance via StarkWave-powered DiversiFi.

It was further highlighted in the announcement that there was a need for carbon-neutral solutions with low gas fees, which is one of the main reasons why Opera has opted to integrate with Polygon instead of Ethereum.

The recent integration is part of Opera’s Crypto Browser project – a Web3-focused initiative that was launched in January 2022. The motive behind the initiative is to facilitate navigation across decentralized applications (DApp), games, and metaverse platforms.

Opera has been building crypto-related products for its large user base since 2018 and released a beta version of its specialist “Crypto Browser Project” in January.
