Key highlights:

  • BNB Chain has entered a collaboration with Google Cloud
  • Through the collaboration, Google Cloud will provide services to BNB Chain-based web3 projects
  • Certain projects will also have accelerated access to Google Cloud's startup support program

Blockchain project BNB Chain, which was initiated by the Binance cryptocurrency exchange, has announced a collaboration with Google Cloud.

According to a CoinDesk report, Google Cloud will provide BNB Chain projects infrastructure that will allow them to analyze on-chain data and encrypt information. In addition, about 150 projects that are taking part in an accelerator program for BNB Chain projects will benefit from accelerated access to the startup support program offered by Google Cloud.

Gwendolyn Regina, the investment director of BNB Chain, commented on the collaboration:

“Google Cloud is a very good Web2 player and has really done a lot of Web3 stuff. It’s important for us to just work with big players who have big visions, and we share the same DNA and same visions.”

BNB, the native asset of the BNB Chain blockchain, is currently the 5th largest crypto asset and commands a market capitalization of $45.19 billion. BNB has seen a 5% price increase in the last 7 days, and is changing hands at just below $280 at the time of writing. The news of the collaboration with Google Cloud doesn’t seem to have had an immediate impact on the BNB market.

Users who are interested in the BNB Chain ecosystem would be wise to pay attention to news coming out this week, as Binance is currently hosting the Binance Blockchain Week conference in Paris. The conference is running from September 14 to September 16.

Google’s cloud computing arm has been engaging with the blockchain and cryptocurrency space for quite some time now. In 2018, Google Cloud partnered with Digital Asset to let its customers explore blockchain frameworks and later introduced integrations with the Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum blockchain platforms. Google Cloud is also a member of the governing council overseeing the Hedera distributed ledger platform.

More recently, it was revealed that Google Cloud will operate a validator on Ronin, an Ethereum sidechain created for the purposes of the Axie Infinity game.
